Gouache watercolors the usual mixes, but pay attention to light.

Are those mastodons or mammoths? I thought mastodons had straighter tusks...? Anyhow, great painting! I keep meaning to volunteer at the Byron dig, and I keep promising myself every year, then end up too busy. :( (More like... too chicken to work those long hours; I'm used to CRM work that ends early!)

Mastodons. The Byron ones have very tightly curved tusks. Some earlier forms were straighter

reindeer in new york? whatever. I'm used to western type megafauna. nice scene. pictures of prehistoric landscapes are usually over-stuffed with animals. great detail.

Caribou to be precise and yes we have their bones radiocarbon dating to around 11,300 BP.
